Harnessing the Benefits of Hybrid Working

BLOG18th Apr 2023

The prevalence and popularity of hybrid working has certainly grown in the wake of the Covid pandemic, with a recent survey conducted by PwC indicating that 77% of employees want to see a mix of face-to-face and remote working, in varying proportions, for the foreseeable future.

The potential benefits are manifold, with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) citing better work-life balance, improved task focus, more time with family and friends, reduced commuting time and costs, IT upskilling and higher levels of motivation among the reported pros of hybrid from the perspective of employees. Equally, hybrid working has afforded business the opportunity to review their overhead costs, innovate and explore new technologies, and reach a wider talent pool in what is without question an exceptionally tight labour market.

However, the hybrid working model poses many questions for employers who may be seeking to embed hybrid as a ‘business as usual’ mode of working. The impact on policy and procedure, performance management, communication, training and development, technology and equipment, wellbeing, inclusion, and the holistic employee experience overall require careful consideration and monitoring now, and for some time to come.

How do we harness the full benefits of hybrid working in 2023?

The overarching question remains, “how do we harness the full potential benefits of hybrid working to drive towards and sustain a healthy high-performance working environment for all?” This is the core question that we will explore together as part of our upcoming Think People Academy session on 27th April 2023. The workshop will take place online from 10am – 1pm.
