AAB Group / Our Team / Paul Giblin
Meet the Audit & Assurance team
SMEs. Large Corporates. Family Businesses. Manufacturing. Hospitality. Charities.
Audit delivery from planning to completion. Empowering the team to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
An Audit Manager in our Dublin office, Paul has almost ten years’ experience advising a diverse client base. Having joined the firm as a trainee, Paul has progressed to Manager, combining technical expertise with a clear, practical understanding of the challenges facing SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and charities.
He manages a varied portfolio across sectors including manufacturing and hospitality, while also supporting a number of large charities. His role spans the full audit lifecycle, from planning through to completion, working closely with our partners and broader team to ensure every audit meets the highest professional standards. Alongside this, he plays a key role in mentoring our trainees and audit associates.
“For many businesses, particularly those going through an audit for the first time, the process can feel overwhelming. My focus is on breaking that down into clear steps and making sure there are no grey areas.
Good communication at the outset is essential. If clients understand what’s required and when, it makes the entire process more efficient and far less stressful.”
“Over time, you build a strong understanding of the challenges clients face and develop close working relationships with partners. Drawing on that experience, and those partner relationships when needed, means we deliver expert solutions. Our open-door culture also means we’re constantly learning from each other to provide the best possible outcomes for clients. It’s all about collaboration.”
“There’s a common perception that audit is just about numbers, but a large part of the role is working with people, understanding their concerns, and helping them through challenges.
Supporting our trainees is an important part of my role. Having gone through the training contract myself, I know how demanding it can be, so I try to provide guidance that helps them progress with confidence.”
“Regulation is constantly evolving in audit. Staying up to date is critical to ensure we’re giving clients accurate, current, and reliable advice.
Continuous professional development and access to strong technical resources are key to maintaining that standard. In AAB, we’re fortunate to have a dedicated technical team. It’s an invaluable resource for us internally, and for clients, making sure we are always leading from the front with reg change.”
“One of the most rewarding aspects of the role is helping clients through difficult situations and seeing them come out the other side in a much stronger position, whether that’s navigating a complex audit or a new regulatory change that impacts various aspects of their business.
I worked with one client that came to us in arrears with filings. It was a challenging situation and they were distressed. We worked through everything together and came out the other side with everything up to date and the client in a much happier position.”
“AI is a key focus across the profession at the moment, and it will be interesting to see how it integrates into our work and enhances the service we provide to clients. Being part of a larger organisation like AAB also brings access to a broader range of resources and expertise, which is a real advantage as we continue to grow and bring new talent into the team.”
