KEEPING UP WITH EVOLVING REGULATIONS 

“Keeping up with evolving regulations across multiple jurisdictions is one of the biggest challenges in company secretarial work. Recent changes at Companies House, particularly the introduction of identity verification requirements in the UK, have been especially testing for both practitioners and clients. However, having experienced a similar rollout in Ireland in 2023, I was able to anticipate the additional administrative and practical demands this would create. This allowed me to proactively prepare, support clients through the transition, and minimise disruption by putting processes in place early.  

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. Governance and compliance are constantly evolving, and no two clients are the same. I approach regulatory change by staying informed, planning ahead, and ensuring clients are guided clearly through any new requirements.”

“Clients need to know that their compliance obligations are being managed accurately and on time. Being responsive, consistent, and clear in communication helps build that trust from the outset.  

A strong client relationship comes from understanding not just the technical requirements, but the client’s business as a whole. In situations where clients operate across multiple jurisdictions, there can be added complexity.

“The most satisfying part of my role is making something complex feel manageable. When a client feels reassured that their compliance is under control, it allows them to focus on running their business with peace of mind.  

Clients often contend with tight deadlines or complex group structures across different jurisdictions. Supporting them through these challenges by organising requirements, coordinating filings, and ensuring compliance is a key part of my role.”
