“FOCUSED ON PRACTICAL PROBLEM SOLVING FOR CLIENTS.”

Based in our Belfast office, Maeve McElroy is a Business Advisory Assistant Manager who works closely with a wide range of clients, supporting them across compliance, advisory, and digital transformation. Her role is defined by variety – balancing statutory accounts, management reporting, and tax compliance, while also helping clients modernise their financial systems and processes.

Maeve brings together strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on advisory experience. She has a particular focus on digital transformation, working with businesses to implement automation and improve systems, reducing manual processes and providing real-time financial insights that support better decision making.

“UNDERSTANDING THE CLIENT FROM DAY ONE”

“One non-negotiable for me is taking the time to properly understand the client and their business from the outset. I focus on asking the right questions and listening carefully, so I can tailor my advice to their specific challenges and goals. This helps build trust early and ensures the support I provide is practical and genuinely valuable.”

“TURNING INEFFICIENCY INTO OPPORTUNITY”

“I built a strong client relationship by taking time to understand how the business operated and where the challenges were. The client was dealing with time-consuming manual processes, inconsistent data, and no real-time visibility, meaning they could only review performance after the fact. By improving processes and introducing automation, we reduced inefficiencies and provided more timely, reliable insight. That proactive, practical support helped build trust and transformed the way they managed their business.”

MAKING A REAL DIFFERENCE

“The most satisfying aspect of working with clients is helping them solve real problems and seeing the impact that improved processes and clearer financial insight can have on their business. I enjoy turning complex or inefficient situations into practical solutions that give clients confidence and allow them to make better, more informed decisions.”

A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH

“One of the most rewarding aspects of being part of AAB is the collaborative culture across the organisation. If a client raises a query outside my area of expertise, there is always someone I can refer them to, ensuring they receive the right specialist advice and the best possible outcome. This joined-up approach allows us to provide well-rounded, high-quality support to clients.”

NAVIGATING CHANGE IN A DIGITAL WORLD

“One of the greatest challenges in my specialist area is keeping pace with the frequent updates and developments in the software we use and implement for clients. With rapid advancements in digital solutions and AI, this is an evolving and exciting area, and I proactively stay up to date to continually enhance our service offering and ensure clients benefit from the latest, most effective tools.”

MORE THAN JUST NUMBERS

“A common misconception about my profession is that it’s solely focused on working with numbers. In reality, a key part of the role is building strong client relationships and gaining a deep understanding of how their businesses operate—not just what the figures say.”

LOOKING AHEAD

“I’m most eager to continue developing my skills in digital transformation, automation and the practical application of AI within finance. I’m particularly interested in exploring how new technologies and evolving systems can streamline processes, improve data quality and provide clients with more timely, meaningful insight to support better decision making.”
