Owner managed SMEs. Wide variety of industries.
Accounts. VAT. Management Accounts. Tax Advice. Strategy & Future Planning. Systems & Process Improvements. Compliance support.
George Frost is a Senior Accountant based at our AAB Bristol office, and a chartered accountant with the ACCA. His role consists of working with SMEs across a variety of sectors and providing compliance support including accounts and VAT. George applies his technical skills by advising businesses on account management, tax, strategy and future planning.
With a drive to make a difference and experience in building client relationships through his strong people skills, George sees beyond the numbers and utilises this to help businesses improve their cash position, look towards the future and experience effective outcomes.
“As a chartered accountant with the ACCA, I have the technical skills to support SMEs in a wide variety of sectors. Having worked with businesses of different sizes and industries, I’m able to draw on a broad range of experience and insights to help clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
I have a drive to make a difference and help people. For me, accountancy is about far more than numbers – it’s about improving systems, processes, providing practical advice and helping businesses become more efficient and achieve better outcomes.”
As a chartered accountant with the ACCA, I have the technical skills to support SMEs in a wide variety of sectors. I’ve also got great experience having worked with many different clients of all sizes and industries and so can use past experiences to help clients going forward.”
“I believe that regular touch points and communication by phone or in person rather than email is important when building a strong relationship with a new client. That in person connection goes a long way rather than another email in someone’s inbox.
Getting really stuck into a business and understanding its core processes has enabled me to build a great relationship with a particular client. They know I know the business inside and out, and really value my opinion on improvements they should be making to help the business grow.
Seeing an improvement within the business as a result of a suggestion I’ve made has been the most satisfying aspect of working with clients. For example, an improvement in a software, which has saved loads of time for someone in the business who can then focus on more interesting things rather than just processing.”
“At AAB, we really care about helping businesses grow. The expertise and experience within the team means we can give the best advice for our clients.”
“A recent example of a challenge I helped solve was when a client was using a paper based system for sales orders. They didn’t want to pay for a monthly software subscription and so I built a spreadsheet they can use to track work won and the profitability of each project. This has given them visibility not just of each project but also of monthly estimated revenues. In my experience, clients have generally been very appreciative of the system improvements I have made to their business, which saved them a countless amount of hours.”
“The greatest challenges for me personally within my specialist area are the constant changes to tax and accounting legislation. To stay on top of this, I’m regularly watching CPD webinars to ensure my knowledge is kept up to date.
For clients, cash is the main issue, given the cost-of-living crisis! To support, I’m making suggestions on how clients can help improve their cash position and helping them look forward rather than backwards.”
“One of the common misconceptions of my profession is that accountants are boring robots who sit behind a computer screen. I spend a lot of my time out meeting clients, understanding issues and helping them solve them. My job is not just numbers; I’d argue it’s mainly about people and relationships.
My technical knowledge is strong, but my people skills are equally as strong. I can build relationships with a variety of personalities and people which means I can adapt to each individual client.
Going forward, I’m eager to develop my understanding of what tech is available to help us but also our clients. AI is constantly adapting and sometimes it can be hard to keep up given the number of advances it has.”
