Family Businesses. Owner-managed businesses. SMEs. Sole traders. Partnerships. Growing companies.
Accounts preparation. Financial reporting. Management accounts. Tax compliance. Business support. Process improvement.
Danys is a Senior Trainee in our accounts and business advisory team, supporting a wide range of clients from sole traders to established companies, many of which are audit exempt. With over 16 years’ experience across different sectors and countries, he brings both technical expertise and a practical, client-focused approach to his work.
His role is varied, with no two weeks the same. Much of his time is spent preparing and reviewing financial statements, management accounts, and tax returns, alongside working on VAT, PAYE returns and corporation and income tax computations. Client interaction is a key part of his role, resolving queries and helping clients understand their numbers more clearly so they can make informed decisions.
“I’ve always liked working with numbers, but what really drew me to accounting was how it connects directly to real businesses.
It’s not just about figures; it’s about understanding how a business works and helping people make better decisions. That combination of analysis and real-world impact is what’s kept me in this career and long may it continue.”
“With over 16 years’ experience, I bring both technical expertise and practical experience. I focus on getting things right, but also on making sure clients actually understand their numbers.
A lot of people can find accounting overwhelming, so I try to break things down in a clear and straightforward way. With my background in financial reporting, tax, payroll, and general finance, I can look at the full picture, help clients spot issues early and find solutions.”
“For me, it comes down to trust. I always try to be approachable, reliable and clear in how I communicate. Clients need to feel they can ask questions and get honest answers.
I worked with a client who initially found his accounts quite confusing and stressful. I took the time to go through everything in a simple way and made sure he felt comfortable asking questions.
Over time, he became much more confident and engaged with his finances. That relationship worked well because of consistency, patience, and clear communication.
Seeing clients go from feeling unsure to feeling confident about their numbers is probably the most satisfying part of the job. When a client tells me I make things ‘simple and clear,’ that’s a win for me.”
“One of the biggest challenges for me was moving to Ireland and adapting to a completely new system, new regulations, new tax rules, and a different way of working.
It pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I took it step by step, learning on the job, asking questions, and building my knowledge over time.
It taught me to be adaptable and confident in facing new challenges, which has really helped me in my career since.”
“Keeping up with changes in regulations while managing deadlines can be challenging, so I focus on staying organised and continuing to learn.
People often think accounting is just about numbers, but it’s really about understanding businesses and helping people make better decisions.
I’d say my strengths are attention to detail, a strong work ethic, being reliable and consistent, and communicating clearly with clients.
I also really enjoy being part of such a supportive team. We share knowledge and help each other. It makes a big difference when everyone is working towards the same goal.”
“I’m currently focused on completing my ACCA qualification and continuing to build my skills, particularly around digital accounting systems. That’s an area that’s becoming more important for both how we work and how we support clients, so it’s something I’m keen to develop further.
Being part of AAB gives me access to a much wider pool of knowledge and experience, which is a real benefit. There’s always something new to learn.
It also creates strong opportunities to keep developing my career, which is something I’m really looking forward to.”
