AAB Group / Our Team / Jeremy Wright
Meet the Audit & Assurance team
Mainly audit clients in the £5m to £30m range. Some smaller accounts preparation-only clients and a few Pension Schemes.
Delivering quality and efficient compliance work. Supporting and advising clients. Answering any enquiries.
The Regulatory team within the Business Client Department.
Jeremy Wright is a Senior Manager in the Audit team at AAB. He manages a portfolio of OMB clients, mainly audits. Jeremy is also responsible for advising his clients on all aspects of their accounting and taxation affairs, and for supporting them in other aspects of running their businesses.
Jeremy works hard to deliver a quality and efficient compliance work service that his clients can rely on. He is always on hand to answer a variety of questions to help them do what they do best: run their businesses.
“In my opinion, an ideal relationship with a client is one where a client knows that they can contact us for help and advice whenever they need to and know that they will get the right advice and get it promptly.”
“Clients expect an efficient and good value for money compliance work service and a prompt response when they need help in other areas. They don’t always expect me to know the answer to every question, but they can trust that I know someone who does.”
“I enjoy the variety my portfolio of clients provides me with. I like dealing with tax issues as well as accounts issues, and I enjoy working with clients of different sizes.”
“The most satisfying aspect of working with my colleagues is seeing team members with whom I have worked a lot progress and grow into their careers. It’s probably more pleasing and more important to be thanked by a colleague for helping to train them than it is to be thanked by a partner for producing good work.”
“I think there are times and places for both virtual meetings and face-to-face meetings; the key is to be flexible. Where clients prefer meeting in person then we certainly need to be able to meet that expectation. Virtual meetings have been a big win in recent years, but I think more challenging or delicate meetings and large meetings are usually better face-to-face.”
“One of the main challenges in auditing is to be able to balance the two roles of business advisors to the client and the external auditor who has to stick to the rules. I think we manage to do this really well, and our clients know we will always do our best for them but understand that as auditors we do have certain duties to perform and a regulatory framework to work within.”
“The growth of the Group has already been significant, and I think this will continue over the next few years, so it’s an exciting time to be a part of it. The access to various AAB specialists has been a big plus point since the merger.”
“I think my main contribution over the years has been with the team plan. My ability to see the wider picture has helped to make sure we provide a balanced variety of work for our students and seniors, and has made sure the majority of the work gets done at the right level.”
“One pet hate that I have about my profession is a lot of the “red tape” we have to do now. I honestly feel that technology has perhaps trimmed 25% off the time we spend doing accounts and tax over say the last ten years, but this has been replaced with extra bureaucracy.”
