Meet the Corporate Tax team
Aerospace engineering manufacturers. Car dealerships. Oil & Gas. Financial Services. Wealth Management.
Corporate Tax compliance. Corporate Tax Advisory.
Emily Ross is a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager, based in our Edinburgh office. She sits within the Tax Compliance team, and supports a wide range of clients from aerospace engineering to oil & gas groups. Her core focus is preparing and submitting tax returns for large corporate groups, but her role doesn’t stop there. Emily also works closely with the Tax Advisory team, supporting on a variety of projects including business restructures, acquisitions, disposals, and international tax matters. She’s involved in everything from drafting advisory reports and building tax models to conducting due diligence.
With experience across both large groups and smaller standalone businesses, Emily brings a well-rounded perspective to every engagement. She’s known for her proactive approach, technical knowledge, and ability to explain complex tax issues in a way that’s easy to understand. Whether she’s working on compliance or advisory projects, her goal is always the same: to give clients confidence and clarity so they can move forward.
“I’ve always been drawn to technically challenging work. The more complex the issue, the more it pushes me to dig deeper and sharpen my skills. That curiosity has helped me build a broad understanding across a wide range of tax matters. It also means I can spot potential risks or missed opportunities early on, often before they even land on a client’s radar. I take pride in being a well-rounded advisor who doesn’t just react to issues but helps stop them in their tracks.”
“A big part of my experience comes from working on tax due diligence for business deals. It’s taught me a lot about the common pitfalls that can hold businesses back, and how to avoid them. I bring that insight into my work with compliance clients, helping them build solid tax foundations from day one. It gives them confidence, clarity, and more time to focus on what matters: running and growing their business.”
“I’m a big believer in the power of picking up the phone. Tax can feel daunting, but when clients can put a face to the name and have a real conversation, it makes things easier for everyone. I prioritise client contact, whether that’s a Teams call, a site visit, or just a quick check-in email, because it builds trust. We’re all human, and the more open the dialogue, the smoother the journey.”
“My client base is spread across the UK, and geography can sometimes be a challenge. But regular, consistent contact keeps those relationships strong. I make it a priority to stay visible and involved, even if I’m not physically in the room. Over time, that consistency pays off, and you build the kind of connection where clients know they can call you any time, about anything.”
“There’s something rewarding about seeing a client succeed, especially when you’ve played a part in getting them there. I love supporting clients in a way that gives them peace of mind and frees up their energy for the bigger picture. Whether it’s solving a tricky tax issue or just being there when they need clarity, I genuinely enjoy being part of their growth journey.”
“Tax doesn’t need to be confusing. A client recently told me how much they appreciated my patience in explaining a complex issue; they found it easy to follow, and that meant a lot to me. I always aim to take a down-to-earth approach. I don’t believe in throwing jargon around. I’d rather help clients truly understand what’s going on and feel confident about the decisions they’re making.”
“When it comes to transactions and structuring, it’s all about balance. I take a holistic view of both the commercial and tax sides of a deal so clients can see the full picture. It’s not about ticking technical boxes; it’s about presenting things clearly so businesses can make informed, confident choices that serve them in the long run.”
“One of my biggest strengths is being proactive. I don’t like to leave things hanging. I’m someone who takes ownership, follows through, and makes sure things happen. I enjoy that sense of progress, taking an idea or a challenge and turning it into a clear result. And when it comes to the technical side, I’ve always had an interest in the details. I like working with legislation and understanding how the rules fit together to shape smart solutions.”
“I’m really interested in how technology can support and improve the way we work, especially in the tax world. There’s so much potential in AI, and I’m keen to explore how we can use it safely and effectively to add value for clients. It’s about working smarter, not harder, and staying ahead of the curve so we can keep delivering excellent service.”
