“GO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MEET DEADLINES.”

Debby is a Payroll Manager based at our Stirling Office and is responsible for a team of 14.  Debby is responsible for the control of bacs submissions for salaries (for all frequencies), PAYE and AEO payments that we process on behalf of clients.  On a day-to-day basis, Debby plans workload, staff resources and manages any problems within the department.  Debby also keeps the team up to date with the latest legislation changes and provides any training needs. In her role, she also manages end to end processing for more complex clients.

In addition, Debby is responsible for onboarding new clients, implementation and running first payrun before allocating to a team member.

Debby manages WIP, generates monthly fees and debt collection where necessary and builds strong client relationships while focussing on high quality client delivery across the department.

Making a positive impact

“People are at the heart of what we do in payroll, so building trust with our clients is an essential part of my role. We speak regularly with clients, and it is important they feel comfortable and trust the work we do for them. Many clients do not want the struggle of trying to understand the complexities of payroll. That’s why we are here to take the burden from their shoulders – I aim to really get to know our client’s business, understand their needs and help them overcome any payroll issues or challenges that may arise.”

Embracing technology

“Technology has helped with the repetitive aspects of payroll, leaving the team more time to deal with more complex matters.  Automation has allowed us to process larger clients quickly and more efficiently.  It has also help improve the team’s satisfaction by reducing the amount of time on repetitive processes allowing them to focus on more value-added tasks.”

Working under pressure

“My pet hate is people thinking that payroll is just a push of a button. Unlike other sectors, payroll deadlines can be every week, every fortnight, every month.  I work well under pressure to assist the team making sure employees are paid accurately and on time. I take pride in being able to work calmly under pressure and communicate effectively. My approach to work is always to go above and beyond to meet deadlines, and I believe this is the greatest strength I bring to the table.”

A collaborative approach

“I believe collaboration is our superpower when it comes to my approach to work. Happy clients, happy team! Communication is key – effective communication is important so clients understand the processes and how it will affect them.   In addition, we work closely with tax and employment specialists to provide a valued services our clients.”

Positive feedback

“It is incredibly satisfying to see ‘happy’ clients, and especially when they take the time to thank the team for the good service we have provided.

One of the most memorable compliments a client has paid me recently was, “Should have outsourced my payroll a long time ago, we have the utmost confidence that Debby and the team will continue to consistently meet, and surpass, our requirements.””

Excited for the future

“Joining AAB, I am most excited about collaborating with new colleagues within AAB to strengthen our Client Services.  I am looking forward to being part of a larger team both personally and professionally, this will provide our team and clients with a variety of expertise.”
