“Being an auditor has given me exposure to a diverse range of industries & sectors, meaning I am always learning.”

Connie Mackay is an Assistant Audit Manager within our Audit team. Based in our Glasgow office, Connie is a key point of contact for her clients throughout the audit process, providing a high-quality service for her wide ranging and diverse client base.

Connie enjoys the versatility of her role. From being a key point of contact for clients and ensuring statutory deadlines and client requirements are met, to mentoring and coaching newer members of the Audit team and offering valuable support in their personal development.

Lasting relationships

“I enjoy building relationships with clients by developing a deeper understanding of their business activities and needs by getting to know them on a personal level. There are several clients that I have worked with for years, so I know them well and they know they can easily reach out to me and I’ll always be available to help. The more understanding I have of my clients, the better I can help and support them.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is being able to identify areas of improvement during an audit and suggest recommendations. It is satisfying to know that we have genuinely helped our client and even made their life a bit easier. Having a good understanding of our client’s needs and objectives is essential and we can then tailor our advice to specific circumstances.”

Wealth of opportunity

“It is exciting working for a firm that isn’t scared to grab opportunities when they arise. The growth of the group means there are many prospects to meet new people and reach a broader range of businesses.

AAB is always pushing to grow and adapt which has encouraged me to do the same. It is great to see the group meet their strategic objectives and targets for growth. I am excited for the future of the AAB group as well as developing my own career. Being able to work with a larger team and seeing the opportunities this creates is rewarding.”

Successful team

“I was recently described by one of my clients as ‘a pleasure to deal with, and so patient.’ It’s always nice to know that our clients appreciate our efforts as individuals and as a team.”

An exciting environment

“A common misconception associated with auditing is that it is ‘boring’ however this couldn’t be further from the truth. Being an auditor has given me exposure to a diverse range of industries and sectors, meaning I am always learning, and I am lucky enough to meet lots of interesting people. Auditing is a profession that’s much more than just number crunching. It’s an exciting environment to work in and every day is different.”
